Codes, Chickens, Bees and the Treehouse

My mom (Benita Stewart) got a book from the library about codes and ciphers. It is very interesting. "Cipher" is another word for a secret code. Me and my friends developed a simple substitution cipher that switches the letter of the alphabet with the opposite letter of the alphabet. For example, "A" would be "Z" and "B" would be "Y". I wrote down the key in my club notebook. (I can not tell the key to you because it is secret.)

We are planning to get bees and chickens next spring. I am very excited about getting both.

The roof of the tree house needs repairing. Actually, it needs to be re-built because me and Ollen took it down to build a new roof but we haven't gotten around to building it yet. The floor, however, is completely built. Me and Garris added a new board to the floor. Click here to find out more about the tree house club.

Seed Saving

Our farm has produced a lot of fruit. We are saving the seeds from the fruit until next year so we can plant more.

We scoop out the cantaloupe seeds, wash the pulp away, and put the seeds in water. Those that sink we take out and let dry.

We pick out the watermelon seeds and put them in water. Again, those that sink we take out and let dry.

We let several okra pods dry on the plant and when they are completely dried we take out the seeds and save them.

Blueberries and Rocket Engines

We have a 15-acre small farm. We also have blueberries on our farm. You can pick your own if you come to our house. We ask for $2 / pound. Most of the blueberries have not been cleaned out, but you can go into the not cleaned out part to pick also.

I was wondering how rocket engines work in space, like the Space Shuttles' engines. I wanted to know how the fuel is not sucked into space, and also how they get oxygen for the engines. Comment me if you would like to tell me the answers to those questions.

We have two cats. Their names are Lightning and Skunk. This is a picture of Skunk on the blueberry table.

The Tree House Club

Me and my friends started a club in a tree. We built the clubhouse by ourselves. We've only got the roof up right now. We elect a new captain each month. The first captain was Ollen. The second was Garris. After Garris it's going to be my turn. We get to make up a new rule when we get to be captain. The clubhouse is in an oak tree by the driveway.

The members are:

Ellis
Garris
Ollen
