Electronics

On January 6th, we went to Radio Shack.  We saw a book there called Make:  Electronics.  Later we found the same book on Amazon for a much lower price.

Bonfire

We had a fire a few weeks ago and invited my friends over to roast marshmallows. We played baseball and capture-the-flag. It was so fun!
(My team won on capture-the-flag.)

Ellis' House

I’m going to my friend Ellis’s house this week. The last time I went, we played army men. We made a chart to show how many people a weapon could kill. Here it is:*
                                                                Grenade: 5
                                                                 Machine gun: 6
                                                               Gun: 1
Ellis’s house is very fun.
*Not  full  chart!

Forest Fire

I found a really cool game on Lego.com.  It's called "Forest Fire".  You choose a route to get to a fire.     Your trucks put it out.  When they run out of water, you refill them.  When a fire's by the lake, you refill as you put it out!

Why not give it a try?

Our New Year's Eve Bonfire (and the treehouse club roof)

On New Year's Eve we made a fire. We toasted marshmallows over the fire. We had an early supper outside by the fire. We went outside at night to see if the fire was still glowing.

Me and Garris built the frame for a new roof in the clubhouse tree. I worked on putting stuff over the frame a bit after he had left.

Codes, Chickens, Bees and the Treehouse

My mom (Benita Stewart) got a book from the library about codes and ciphers. It is very interesting. "Cipher" is another word for a secret code. Me and my friends developed a simple substitution cipher that switches the letter of the alphabet with the opposite letter of the alphabet. For example, "A" would be "Z" and "B" would be "Y". I wrote down the key in my club notebook. (I can not tell the key to you because it is secret.)

We are planning to get bees and chickens next spring. I am very excited about getting both.

The roof of the tree house needs repairing. Actually, it needs to be re-built because me and Ollen took it down to build a new roof but we haven't gotten around to building it yet. The floor, however, is completely built. Me and Garris added a new board to the floor. Click here to find out more about the tree house club.

Seed Saving

Our farm has produced a lot of fruit. We are saving the seeds from the fruit until next year so we can plant more.

We scoop out the cantaloupe seeds, wash the pulp away, and put the seeds in water. Those that sink we take out and let dry.

We pick out the watermelon seeds and put them in water. Again, those that sink we take out and let dry.

We let several okra pods dry on the plant and when they are completely dried we take out the seeds and save them.
